From Gayo to Your Cup: The Story Behind Ariga Coffee Australia
When you sip a cup of Ariga Coffee, you're tasting more than just beans. You're sipping on a story — one that begins in the lush highlands of Gayo Aceh, Indonesia, and journeys all the way to Melbourne, where we roast every batch fresh, in small quantities, with purpose.
We’re not a big corporate coffee brand. We’re small, personal, and intentional. Ariga Coffee Australia was born out of passion — a desire to share the rich, complex flavours of Indonesian coffee with Australians who appreciate craft and character.
As the founder of PBK Noodles in Melbourne, I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of making things from scratch — whether it's noodles made fresh daily without MSG, or coffee roasted just enough to bring out its true personality.
During the quieter days of the pandemic, I started roasting green beans from Gayo Aceh in tiny batches. What started as curiosity quickly became a mission. Indonesian coffee — especially from Gayo — is deeply aromatic, smooth, and full-bodied. It deserved to be more widely appreciated in Australia.
So, Ariga Coffee was born — a tribute to my Indonesian roots and to the spirit of hand-crafted excellence.
Today, we offer single-origin Gayo Aceh beans roasted in micro-batches, ideal for pour-over lovers, espresso drinkers, or anyone who just wants to drink something real and honest.
This is just the beginning. We’re working on expanding our line with limited blends, seasonal releases, and collabs with our food family at PBK Noodles.
